The team participated in the 2024 European Championship and the top nations had a tough time against them. There's no question that the squad Tuchel has at his disposal is still incredibly strong. The reigning European runners-up have hopefully come to terms with the fact that they didn't win the 2024 European Championship either. For several years the Three Lions have been pushing forward with defensive football, but always fall just short of their ultimate goal. After the final loss to Spain, there wasn't much time to dry their tears, the Nations League was calling. Although England suffered a 1-2 defeat against Greece, they otherwise held on to their nerves and won the remaining five games. However, with Finland, Ireland and Greece, there were no big names in the field. England competed in League B and immediately regained promotion thanks to their results. The three goals conceded all came in the second half, and the decisive second against Greece came practically at the final whistle. Albania is an opponent who could be quite difficult to play against. The Red and Blacks are more defensively focused, while Italy, Spain, and Croatia had a tough time at last year's European Championship against them. |
